Welcome to Camplong
In the Corbières, Cathar country
Come and discover the village and its 270 inhabitants. Camplong lies in the heart of the Corbières wine-making region, nestling at the foot of the Montagne d’Alaric, yet is only 50km from the Mediterranean.
One-time
possession of Lagrasse abbey, where the monks started cultivating vines as
early as the 9th century, the Camplong vineyards bring the best out of the soil
and climate. Generations of vine-growers have shaped this sheltered countryside
to create a harmonious patchwork of vineyards and untamed hillside.
The
soil is poor but the wine it produces is full of flavour and the Vignerons de
Camplong AOC Corbières is known throughout the world.
We want to share with you the joie de vivre of these hills, and their history. So we have converted houses for holiday letting, and built a small friendly holiday village, a restaurant and an outdoor theatre.
We invite you to come and visit Camplong, for its wine, or for a holiday in an unspoiled Mediterranean rural setting in the company of young and enthusiastic wine-makers.
In Summer, the cicadas sing contentedly in the shade of the pine trees, sheltered from the midday sun.
