Provenance

A selection from the best Camplong vines on the southern slopes of Alaric.

Grape varieties

  • Mourvèdre : 12 %
  • Grenache: 24 %
  • Syrah: 24 %
  • Carignan (from old vines): 40 %

Entirely harvested by hand.

Wine-making

  • Carbonic maceration is used for the Syrah and Carignan, with the fermentation taking 18 days.
  • 50% of the macerated Carignan is pressed
  • The Mourvèdre and Grenache are destalked, again being fermented for 18 days.
  • The liquid is drawn off several times and the lees allowed to settle. In March the fermented grape-juice is blended to create the desired wine.
  • This is followed by 14 months in barrels. 20% of the barrels are new Merrain oak and 80% are in their second year of use.
  • The wine is bottled and then kept for three years before being sold.

Description

The selection of the best vines, rigorous control of the wine-making and an exceptional vintage have given this wonderful wine its deep purple colour.

The nose is complex, reminiscent of cooked red fruit with a hint of vanilla... In the mouth, a powerful aroma of kirsch and cooked figs is apparent.

The tannins are well structured and will become softer with time.

This special vintage from the Vignerons de Camplong can be drunk straight away and will continue to improve for many years.

Quantity produced : 10 000 bottles.
