Camplong, in the district of Lagrasse, Corbières.
A selection from Camplong's oldest vineyards, on the best slopes of the southern side of the Montagne d'Alaric.
Geology: fine sediments derived from the mountain (red earth, gravel and pebbles, and calcareous soils)
Wine-makingThe rigorous work in selecting the grapes and the careful preparation have produced a wine of exceptional quality.
This enchanting wine has a beautiful deep colour, and a fine nose composed of mature red fruits, smells of the garrigue and oriental spices.
Subtle and silky tannins with a hint of oak. The 2000 vintage will show its potential in two to three years and should keep for 15 years in good conditions.
Production: 21,000 bottles. Reservation advisable.

C DE CAMPLONG 2001*
The name, the label, everything makes one think of haute couture, of perfumes. This is a prestigeous vintage made from carignan, syrah, grenache and mourvèdre. In a few words: deep ruby tones, wild cherries and moorland herbs, relatively discretely oaked (14 months in wood), a spicy wine, liquorice, rich in tannin, dense and harmonious. The little note of bitterness on swallowing is not unpleasant. It will be at its best in 2-3 year's time. Until then, to be served in a caraffe.

As at Embres et Castelmaure, the Camplong winegrowers have benefited from the support of Michel Tardieu and Dominique Laurent, and the complete rethinking of the way they work has allowed the creation of a complete range of sophisticated wine.
The star of this cooperative is indisputably the C de Camplong which has benefited from the advice of Tardieu and Laurent. This wine is full and rich, with sophisticated aromas, and a good length.
